The previous deadline was November 30.<\/p>\n<p>According to a circular issued by the board, late filers of tax returns would now be able to avail a 15-day extension and file their income tax returns till December 15.<\/p>\n<p>FBR said it extended the deadline for filing of income tax returns\/statements for 2018 under Section 214A of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001.<\/p>\n<p>This is the third extension in the deadline for filers of tax returns as the board had originally set the deadline for August 31, which was later extended till November 30.<\/p>\n<p>FBR had earlier notified the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/fbr-notifies-audits-closure-waives-penalties-for-salaried-class.html\">closure of all audits and waived the penalty <\/a>for about 342,314 salaried individuals selected for automatic audit for late filing of tax returns from 2015 to 2017.<\/p>\n<p>According to FBR, the decision had been taken in view of the hardships faced by salaried persons and to facilitate filers of returns.
