Lahore: Six waste stabilisation ponds are to be set up in Lahore to recycle waste water, a news source reported. Previously waste water treatment plants were to be set up but those projects have been delayed on account of high costs and the stabilisation ponds will be established in their place.<\/p>\n
The Housing Minister will present the plants for waste stabilisation plant before the Supreme Court. In Lahore, 225 acres of land had been obtained near Shahadra and Mehmood Booti for water treatment plants and six treatment plants were planned at Babu Sabu, Mohlanwal, Hadyara, and Ferozepur Road among others. The provincial government has delayed the projects due to lack of funds and high costs. Costly machinery was required for the plants and the cost of electricity would have added to the burden of the plants.<\/p>\n
According to the Provincial Housing Minister the six waste stabilisation ponds will be established at the same designated spots. The plans for the ponds have been finalised and work on them will begin within the next four to six months.<\/p>\n
