The project aims to improve conditions of road and driver safety.<\/p>\n<p>Under the project, the authorities concerned would renovate 42 kilometres of the total length (53.9km) of Mardan-Swabi Road, which, due to its dilapidated condition, has become extremely dangerous for travelers.<\/p>\n<p>In November 2017, the ADB approved USD 140 million for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Road Improvement Project to rehabilitate eight sections of key provincial roads and improve transport efficiency and safety.<\/p>\n<p>In May this year, the then government requested additional funds for the project as it sought to widen the existing two-lane road between Mardan and Swabi to four-lane divided road.<\/p>\n<p>The Mardan\u2013Swabi Road runs through Khyber Pakhtunkhwa\u2019s agricultural heartland between the Indus and Kabul rivers.
