Mansehra: The construction work at Munchora dam<\/a> site has been restarted after being on hold for almost a week, a news source reported. The work was resumed after Babar Khan Tanoli, who is the assistant commissioner, offered assurance to the concerned landowners that their respective issues will be resolved soon.<\/p>\n

Work on construction of Munchora Dam was inaugurated<\/a> earlier in October this year, which was later put to hold due to protest of the landowners on non-payment of land price. Now the AC has assured that the payments will be released as soon as the government\u2019s process of acquiring the land is completed. After the assurance, the landowners had allowed the work to be started again but they are demanding market price for the land as well as jobs.<\/p>\n

The Munchora Dam is aimed at irrigating Agror and Tanawal. It will also be feasible for creating employment and development opportunities in Oghi and its surrounding areas. Followed by aggressive measures taken to conserve water and increase Pakistan\u2019s capacity to store it, work at various water reservoirs and power projects is underway.<\/p>\n

For the 4,300 megawatts Dasu Hydropower project, work on the water diversion tunnels was also initiated. To ensure timely completion of the project, Dasu Hydropower General Manager Javed Akhtar has said that no delays in completion will be tolerated.
