Islamabad: The first state-of-the-art cancer hospital in Islamabad is to be established by the government, according to a news source. This was decided in a meeting presided over by Prime Minister Imran Khan, and held at the Prime Minister\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n
The purpose of this meeting was to discuss health reforms in Islamabad, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunwa. Members of the meeting were briefed by the health secretary about the health action plan and told that there are only 2,000 beds in Islamabad\u2019s hospitals, and this was to be doubled in five years with the Capital Health Strategy.<\/p>\n
It was revealed that a 200-bed cancer hospital would be built in Islamabad, along with a 200-bed general hospital in Tarlai, and three 120-bed mother and child hospitals in Bara Kahu, Rawat, and Tarnol. Five mother and child hospitals are to be established in Punjab as well. Rural health units and basic health units are to be also upgraded by June 2020.
