Islamabad: The Senate Standing Committee on Communications has sought details of the framework agreement between Pakistan and China on Multan-Sukkur Motorway, a news source reported. The parliamentary panel met under the chairmanship of Senator Hidayat Ullah.<\/p>\n
Senator Mir Muhammad Yousaf Badini, Senator Syed Muhammad Sabir Shah, Senator Muhammad Usman Khan Kakar, Senator Fida Muhammad, and officials of the Ministry of Communications attended the meeting.<\/p>\n
The committee asked the officials concerned to present a copy of the framework agreement. They also sought data regarding traffic flow of Chinese vehicles.<\/p>\n
The motorway project is expected to become operational by August 2019. Almost 70% of the construction work has been completed. Earlier this year, the 33-kilometre-long Multan-Shujaabad section of the motorway was inaugurated, but was later closed owing to the ongoing construction work.<\/p>\n
