The operation was carried out in Finance and Trade Centre Block in Johar Town. The Lahore Development Authority (LDA), in collaboration with Saddar Division police, demolished makeshift huts and shanties. The encroached land measured around 1,000 kanals, where other structures had also been constructed. The structures were part of the modus operandi of the land mafia which used to possess land by first building shanties and makeshift huts. The dwellers claim that they used to pay influential people rent for living there.
