Islamabad: Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC) is considering a proposal to introduce fixed gas tariff each month for domestic consumers to streamline its transmission issues, according to a news report. The decision was taken after SSGC suffered huge line losses in the province.<\/p>\n
The company\u2019s line losses\/UFG (Unaccounted for Gas) stood at 49.39% in Balochistan, 13.88% in Karachi and 13.80% in interior Sindh during the year 2017-18. The package for fixed monthly billing will be placed before the government for consideration. Each consumer will have to pay PKR 2,000 per month during the peak winter season.<\/p>\n
The main causes of UFG have been attributed to gas theft, meter tampering, unauthorised extension of load, old gas lines, under-capacity transmission lines, and measurement errors. SSGC also plans to establish Control Gas Theft Operation Departments for the purpose.
