Rawalpindi: The residents of Cantonment have welcomed the operation launched on the orders of Supreme Court of Pakistan against encroachers in the area, according to a news report. In order to ensure that encroachments don\u2019t surface once the operation completes, related legislation and a check post in the area was demanded.<\/p>\n
Rawalpindi Cantt is among the biggest cantonment areas in the country and it is home to encroachments along important road networks for the last several decades. The residents of Cantt demanded the authorities concerned to form permanent check posts on Railway Station Road, near GPO and Cinema Market, in Babu Bazar, and on Adam Jee Road, Kashmir Road, Bank Road, King Road, Haider Road and Hospital Road.<\/p>\n
These check posts should also take public complaints and forward them to the higher officials in Rawalpindi Cantonment Board to facilitate prompt action. The residents also shared their feedback on beautifying the neighbourhood.<\/p>\n
Sharing his views on the campaign, an officer from the board said that indiscriminate operation against encroachers has been launched for the first time in the history and measures are being taken to beautify the area. In this regard, the owner of each building is bound to paint it once in three years.<\/p>\n
Commenting on concerns of csome people on the operation, he said that the drive is launched to facilitate people, not to deprive them of earning opportunities.
