Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has demolished over 1,000 illegally constructed structures in its grand operation against encroachers, reported a news source. The retrieved land – from various commercial markets of historical importance – has been opened to pedestrians.<\/p>\n

During this operation, the RMC staff tore down illegal land holdings built outside the shops, plazas, hotels and shopping malls with the help of heavy machinery. The initiative was carried out under the supervision of the RMC Chief Officer Shafqat Raza. To avoid any unfortunate situations, police officers were also deployed at the site.<\/p>\n

To ensure that the operation commenced without any hurdles, cars parked before the illegal structures were removed via mobile lifters. Furthermore, alternate traffic routes were also set up temporarily to alleviate any inconvenience to the public.<\/p>\n
