Islamabad: In a report submitted by Capital Development Authority before Supreme Court of Pakistan, the agency revealed that 45 housing societies are operating without formally seeking any approval, reported a news source. The court had earlier order the CDA to carry out a forensic audit<\/a> of 44 societies in Islamabad\u2019s Zone II, Zone V and sector E-11<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Only one out of the chosen 44 societies had received an approval for its layout plan \u2013 through the issuance of a no-objection certificate. On the charges of carrying out development work and sales activities without prior CDA approval, the court ordered cancellation of the layout plans for 11 societies.<\/p>\n

Out of these projects, six are located in Zone II and five in Zone V. The fate of the remaining 32 housing schemes is yet to be determined. As per the building bylaws notified by the CDA, no housing society can start development work, market its projects, or sell to the public without receiving an NOC from the civic authority.<\/p>\n

In order to regularize all illegal projects, structures and buildings in the federal capital, a commission has been formed<\/a> by the Interior Ministry. This body will share its recommendations on regularizing illegal land holdings in Islamabad in the coming days.<\/p>\n
