Islamabad: The Supreme Court (SC) has cancelled an agreement between Capital Development Authority (CDA) and overseas Pakistanis to provide land to the latter, according to a news report. The land was to be sanctioned for the construction of a tech university. The court also directed the civic agency to return the USD 29 million figure paid for the land.<\/p>\n
Overseas Pakistanis had filed a case over the establishment of the university. A three-member bench of SC, led by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar, heard the case.<\/p>\n
The court noted that the petitioners had fulfilled their end of the contract. However, CDA had failed to meet all the conditions listed. The overseas Pakistanis were demanding a refund, because the land had not been allotted to them.<\/p>\n
