Multan: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mudassir Riaz Malik is planning to grant special powers to waste management companies, according to a news report. Under the powers, people littering roads and streets can be fined and their properties can be sealed.<\/p>\n
He said that the powers will granted to sanitary workers with the approval of board of directors, under local government ordinance. Meanwhile, private housing schemes, hospitals and commercial\/industrial units will be charged for garbage collection and disposal.<\/p>\n
The DC was speaking at a high-level meeting of the Multan Waste Management Company (MWMC). The meeting was also attended by MWMC Managing Director (MD) Iqbal Fareed, Manager Operations Daud Makki and other relevant officials.<\/p>\n
He said that MWMC will soon establish a medical waste disposal plant and waste management system in the city will be improved.<\/p>\n
