Multan: The 230-kilometre long Abdul Hakeem to Lahore Motorway (M-3) will open to traffic tomorrow, reported a news source. The project has been completed at a cost of PKR 148 million. The six-lane motorway will reduce the travelling duration between the cities to a mere two hours.<\/p>\n
Abdul Hakeem-Lahore Motorway features eight interchanges, 35 overhead bridges, and 16 underpasses. Construction of the 70-kilometre road connecting Abdul Hakeem with Kabirwala is slated for completion in June 2019. M-3 is a strategically important project launched under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) initiative.<\/p>\n
Development work on the 392 kilometres-long Multan-Sukkur Motorway, another CPEC project, is 80% done. Construction of this road is being carried out on a priority basis. The said motorway will connect Multan with Sukkur – while passing through Ahmed Pur Sharqia, Rahim Yar Khan and Saddiqabad.<\/p>\n
Multan-Sukkur Motorway will feature 10 flyovers, 54 overhead bridges, 10 rest areas, and 11 interchanges. These include Multan, Shujabad, Jalalpur Pirwala, Uch Sharif, Tarinda Muhammad Panah, Zahir Peer, Bahadur Pir, Ghotki, Pano Aqil and Sukkur.<\/p>\n
