Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan has formed a ministerial committee to formulate trade agreements with Turkey, according to a news report. This group is comprised of eight members, and will negotiate a long-term agreement.<\/p>\n
The two countries agreed to create a Strategic Economic Framework (SEF) for bilateral cooperation. There will be special focus on trade and investment.<\/p>\n
The committee is headed by Finance Minister Asad Umar, and consists of federal ministers. It held a preliminary meeting to formulate the proposed SEF. Umar stated that Turkey\u2019s success in tourism had been duly noted by the government. He said that efforts should be made for it to be replicated in Pakistan.<\/p>\n
The structure and extent of economic cooperation with Turkey was discussed at length. Umar emphasised on the need to boost this relationship further. The committee has been tasked to formulate plans on how this is to be achieved.<\/p>\n
The finance minister directed the relevant ministries to provide their input for the purpose. This information will be shared with the Turkish side for increased coordination.
