Multan: Multan Electricity Supply Company (MEPCO) is continuing to sever electricity connections for illegal housing schemes, reported a news source. The drive was launched on the orders of the federal Ministry of Energy (Power Division).<\/p>\n
To assist MEPCO in its operations, several government departments shared details on the legal status of a number of housing societies in the city. These reporting agencies included the City District Administration, Development Authority, and the Town Municipal Authority. Based on their findings, MEPCO is currently engaged in cutting electricity connections for unapproved housing schemes.<\/p>\n
In this regard, MEPCO is adhering to its set procedures. These permit electricity supply only for approved housing schemes. To clarify the situation, MEPCO has shared the details on this process:<\/p>\n
The department concerned issues a preliminary planning permission to the developers applying for it. These developers prepare the town plan for their project, and submit it before MDA and MEPCO\u2019s Planning Wing for approval. Based on the proposed design, project size, and available plots, the developers communicate their requirements on the number of electricity poles, transformers and electricity metres needed. The proposals also give estimated figures of the expected electricity load. The MEPCO Planning officers\u2019 committee verifies the information through a ground survey, and issues a demand notice.<\/p>\n
The housing societies that do not follow the above-mentioned process will not be assisted by the company, clarified MECPO.<\/p>\n
