Peshawar: The KP government is conducting a survey to construct 589 kilometres of roads in the province, a news source reported.\u00a0 The KP Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan revealed that roads will be laid in seventeen districts of KP. He was presiding over a meeting of the provincial government with Communication & Works Department and Japan International Cooperation (JICA).<\/p>\n

The said project will also feature 53 kilometres of roads and five bridges for Swat under its rehabilitation plan.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, the CM also disclosed the government\u2019s plans to build an agriculture research station in Mingora with JICA\u2019s collaboration.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the attending officials were briefed regarding the improvement plans for the network of roads in the rural areas. The officials concerned presented a pre-feasibility report, implementation strategy, and proposed construction timelines for this purpose.<\/p>\n

The meeting also discussed the resources required for rehabilitating bridges in the province. For this purpose, the JICA has been tasked to devise a mechanism for finalising an agreement for the project. This will help to begin practical work on the venture by September 2019. The roads and bridges that require repairs have been identified.<\/p>\n

Mahmood has pledged his administration\u2019s full support for quickly beginning work on these projects. The administration will offer assistance for bettering road communications, agriculture development, and overall rehabilitation.<\/p>\n
