Lahore: Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has decided to amend the map-approval rules for setting up warehouses on agricultural land, reported a news source. In this regard, a summary has been sent to Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar for his assent.<\/p>\n
The summary to change rules for agricultural land allotment in LDA-controlled areas was moved by LDA Director General Amna Imran Khan. Currently, LDA bylaws don\u2019t allow construction of warehouses in green areas. The development authority only approves maps for farmhouses in such regions.<\/p>\n
The orders to amend the said rules were given by the Punjab chief secretary. The decision will help assist farmers to store agricultural produce. Furthermore, LDA will also earn revenue from its map approvals drive.<\/p>\n
In this regard, LDA will have farmers sign agreements guaranteeing the items stored in these warehouses to be non-toxic. The development authority has clarified that the said constructions cannot be used for storing flammable items.<\/p>\n
