Gujranwala: The Municipal Corporation has revealed that more than a thousand buildings in Gujranwala are illegal and have been built in connivance with the building inspectors.<\/p>\n

The city mayor had earlier tasked the authorities concerned to conduct a survey of illegal constructions. The building inspectors, along with other officials, completed the survey within five months; following the directive.<\/p>\n

The findings revealed that at least 1,136 buildings had been illegally established in Gujranwala. Moreover, there exists no official record of the said structures.<\/p>\n

Mayor Sheikh Sarwat Ikram said that investigations are underway against corrupt officials. He added that the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has registered a case against allegedly corrupt officials employed within the Municipal Corporation.<\/p>\n
