Islamabad: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Director General Bashir Memon has ordered to launch an inquiry into alleged malpractices by housing societies operating nationwide \u2013 a news source reported.<\/p>\n

FIA zones operating across the country will lodge criminal cases against the schemes in question. The DG FIA has directed to complete this operation within a three-month timeframe.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, FIA Islamabad Zone Director Fakhar Sultan has summoned a special meeting to discuss the matter. The federal institution will also constitute teams in a bid to take action against illegal societies nationwide.<\/p>\n

FIA previously prepared a list of housing schemes operating across the country. In January, it submitted a forensic audit report<\/a> detailing the specifics of the said schemes in the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n

According to the report, at least 6,072 housing societies established inside the country were illegal. The number of registered housing societies stood at 3,053.<\/p>\n
