Islamabad: The Senate Standing Committee on Less Developed Areas has proposed that fruit-bearing trees be planted under the 10 Billion Tree project in unprivileged cities, reported a news source.<\/p>\n
Senator Usman Kakar headed the meeting while Advisor to Prime Minister on Industries and Production Abdul Razaq Dawood was also present.<\/p>\n
The committee members said by planting berry trees and other fruit-bearing plants, government can increase foreign exchange by exporting these fruits.<\/p>\n
The committee also proposed installation of a coal treatment plant in Balochistan\u2019s Loralai and Brunei and a chromite treatment plant in Muslimabad.<\/p>\n
Sharing his views, Dawood said that improvement in the mechanism of small business and industries is crucial for development of smaller cities. The committee also took notice of industries being sealed in Malakund.<\/p>\n
Senator Usman mentioned that economic development of Pakistan cannot be achieved without focusing on 70% of the population that lives in less-developed areas.
