Lahore: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has decided to launch a crackdown against private munshis<\/em> acting as accomplices of patwaris<\/em> \u2013 a news source reported.<\/p>\n

Read<\/strong>:\u00a0\u2018Role of patwaris\u2019 clarification sought in property-transfer mechanism<\/a><\/p>\n

These munshis<\/em> allegedly tamper with land records in patwarkhanas<\/em> in connivance with local land mafias. According to ACE, this notorious trio of patwaris<\/em>, munshis<\/em> and land mafias<\/em> is engaged in corrupt practices.<\/p>\n

Additional Commissioner Revenue Malik Muhammad Awais said that patwarkhanas<\/em> cannot hire private individuals. He added that the authorities concerned will conduct raids against people involved in corrupt practices.<\/p>\n

It is pertinent to mention here that the Supreme Court has barred patwaris<\/em> from functioning in urban areas<\/a>. Former chief justice Saqib Nisar had issued the orders to this effect in a suo motu case.<\/p>\n
