Gujranwala: Seventy-five percent of factories set up in Gujranwala District are operating without having ample safety arrangements in place, reported a news source. The Government of Punjab has given a 15-day deadline to the factory owners concerned for making the necessary arrangements.<\/p>\n

In this regard, the Civil Defence Department and other offices concerned have served notices to 450 factory owners operating in the said districts. As per reports, those failing to install safety equipment within 15 days will face legal consequences.<\/p>\n

As per the law, the factory owners have to get an NOC from various departments before setting up their industrial units. In addition, they also have to arrange for firefighting equipment and ensure civil defence training for their staff.<\/p>\n

In the absence of trained staff, firefighting systems and emergency exit doors, any unfortunate instance can cause major losses of life.
