Lahore: The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has extended the deadline of its amnesty scheme to 20th<\/sup> March, a news source reported.<\/p>\n

Under the amnesty scheme, illegal connections can legalised without any penalty or legal consequences till the last date. After the deadline, WASA will launch a crackdown on water thieves. Illegal users can face up to 2 years of imprisonment, a PKR 200,000 fine, or both.<\/p>\n

Previously, the last date was 5th<\/sup> March. However, an additional 15 days have been added on public demand, according to WASA Vice Chairman Sheikh Imtiaz Mahmood.<\/p>\n

He said that WASA has added PKR 1 billion to its total revenue during the last four months. He also added that the last date for the amnesty scheme wouldn\u2019t be extended anymore. Those who ignore this opportunity will be arrested.<\/p>\n
