Islamabad: The Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP) is expected to be launched in a couple of weeks, a news source quoted National Assembly\u2019s Standing Committee for Housing and Works Chairman Engineer Muhammad Najeeb Haroon as saying.<\/p>\n

The chairman shared this information while presiding over a meeting held to discuss the progress made till date regarding NPHP\u2019s completion. He said that the private sector has offered 570,000 acres of land for the low-cost housing project. Furthermore, Haroon stated that the ban placed on parliamentarians for plot allocations in the project remains in effect.<\/p>\n

He also shared the latest developments pertaining to the Bhara Kahu I scheme, where development work is expected to start in March. Haroon mentioned that the National Accountability Bureau, along with the investigative departments concerned, have cleared the project from their end.<\/p>\n

The meeting\u2019s participants raised questions regarding the sizes of the houses planned for Islamabad\u2019s rural areas.
