Lahore: The Punjab government has decided to issue licenses for facilitating the commercial use of water, a news source quoted Minister for Irrigation Mohsin Leghari as saying.<\/p>\n

He was speaking at a workshop on water crisis jointly organised by WWF Pakistan and Nestle at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The minister said that the draft of a water policy would be tabled before the Punjab cabinet in the coming months. At present, the officials are finalising the document. He hoped that the proposed policy would help address the country\u2019s water crisis.<\/p>\n

The government, under the said policy, will monitor all water extraction activities and issue licenses for its attainment with regard to commercial purposes.<\/p>\n
