Peshawar: The government has installed a modern waste management system at the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH), according to a news source. This system will ensure proper disposal of medical and general waste<\/a>, including infectious waste produce. The system will reportedly protect people from diseases such as hepatitis.<\/p>\n

The authorities purchased this system from a UK-based company for PKR 90.5 million. It will also be used to burn waste generated in the city\u2019s other hospitals. This is the first system of its kind in Pakistan, and was recommended by the World Health Organisation (WHO). It will burn 400 kilograms of waste per hour. Experts have already trained staff how to use it.<\/p>\n
