Lahore: Water and Sanitation Authority (WASA) has decided to launch crackdown against defaulters of water bills from April 15, reported a news source. For this purpose, WASA Managing Director (MD) Syed Zahid Aziz has formed a special task force that will recover pending dues from the defaulters.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, WASA has also sent notices to the defaulters. The authority is to recover PKR 89 billion in terms of water bills from the defaulters, including many housing schemes. The notice receivers have been warned to clear their pending dues by April 15 or they will face legal action.<\/p>\n

In a meeting held in WASA headquarters the other day, Aziz revealed that the authority has sent final notices to the management of over 55 housing schemes. The more prominent of these include Wapda Town, Alpha Avenue, Abdalian Housinng Schemes, Bankers Housing Society, Audit and Accounts Housing Scheme, Model Town, Education Town and High Court Housing Scheme, and some others.<\/p>\n

According to WASA Director Revenue, the authority has issued waters bills worth over PKR 160 million to cooperative housing schemes. WASA has reportedly recovered PKR 30.4 million. Out of the total PKR 110 million owed by 56 private housing schemes in terms of water bills, WASA has received PKR 50 million so far.<\/p>\n
