Islamabad: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Shabbar Zaidi has warned tax defaulters of strict action including the disconnection of utilities if they fail to clear their dues, a news source reported.<\/p>\n

He revealed that only 38,937 (or 11.2%) out of a total of 348,174 industrial gas and electricity connections countrywide are registered with the relevant taxation authorities.<\/p>\n

The FBR chairman urged industrialists and manufacturers to clear their sales tax liabilities by paying a certain amount of tax announced under the recently introduced amnesty scheme<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He said that the authorities concerned will accept all tax payments with additional surcharge after the expiry of the Assets Declaration Ordinance, on June 30.<\/p>\n

Moreover, he said that the number of commercial consumers in the country stands at 3.1 million. He added that the FBR would share sales tax registration data of these consumers in the future.<\/p>\n
