Hunza: President Dr Arif Alvi on Monday urged mountaineers to adopt best practices for the promotion environment-friendly tourism initiatives in the country\u2019s northern areas, a news source.<\/p>\n

He expressed his views on the matter at the closing ceremony of Tour de Khunjerab 2019<\/em> \u2013 a three-day international cycling competition jointly organised by the Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) government and the Pakistan Cycling Federation that culminated on June 30.<\/p>\n

GB Governor Raja Jalal Hussain, GB Chief Minister Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman, along with senior politicians and high-ranking government officials, also attended the concluding ceremony.<\/p>\n

The president advised the tourists to respect the law of the land and help the local community preserve the area\u2019s natural beauty. For this purpose, the authorities concerned recently introduced a \u2018plastic-free city\u2019 campaign in various parts of the country, he added.<\/p>\n
