Islamabad: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Shabbar Zaidi has requested all four provincial governments, as well as the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration, to assist the revenue authority in broadening the tax base, a news source.<\/p>\n

In a letter addressed to the provincial chief secretaries, the FBR chief asked these officials to share the details of persons \u2013 who own plots measuring 500 square yards, or flats (comprising a covered area of 2,000 square feet) \u2013 in a bid to include these individuals in the tax net.<\/p>\n

Section 114 of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001 makes it mandatory for individuals owning plots and flats measuring 500 square yards and 2,000 square feet, respectively, to file their income-tax returns.<\/p>\n

Moreover, Zaidi, in his letter, stated that the provincial governments concerned have collected information pertaining to property ownership.<\/p>\n
