Lahore: Kashif Ali, a senior engineer working on the Kartarpur Corridor project has confirmed that more than 80% of its construction work has been completed; with officials hopeful that the left-over work would be finished well before the government\u2019s communicated deadline sets in, as per news reports. Furthermore, he said that the shortage of special white marble tiles (which have been used extensively in the project) currently comprised the only hindrance in the way of the corridor\u2019s further development.<\/p>\n

Ali further explained that the project\u2019s main road, bridge, and building compound \u2013 from zero line to the Gurduwara Sahib complex \u2013 have been completed, along with 70% of the administration block\u2019s construction (which includes the darshan khana<\/em>, langar<\/em> khana<\/em>, and several washrooms).<\/p>\n

The development team is now working on installing infrastructure for providing utilities such as water and gas. The parking area near the border terminal and the Gurduwara Sahib has also been completed; leaving only the plantation and landscaping work pending.<\/p>\n

The agricultural land around Gurduwara Sahib is also being readied to raise the compound\u2019s \u2018Nishan Sahib\u2019 attraction to the height of 150 feet \u2013 so that it can be clearly seen from India.<\/p>\n

The site\u2019s \u2018Kunwan Sahib\u2019 and \u2018Aam ka Darakht\u2019 emblems, which stand near the construction site for the pilgrims, are also being analyzed for ways to conserve them.<\/p>\n

The head of Gurduwara Sahib Kartarpur Sardar Goband Singh has stressed that not a single part of the temple has been altered or damaged. He added that it stood untouched throughout the construction process.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
