He informed the committee that since no major oil or gas resources were discovered in the country for a long while, it is causing rapid depletion of the existing reserves. The lack of said resources is being balanced temporarily through the import of LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) and LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas).<\/p>\n<p>The Secretary maintained that if these TAPI and Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline projects are successfully executed, the country would leave the worse of its fuel crises behind, and wouldn\u2019t need to rely on the imported LPG and LNG.<\/p>\n<p>He also briefed about the other upcoming projects, especially one being planned with a Russian firm, and the North-South and Machikey-Taru Jabba oil pipeline.<\/p>\n<p>As of now, the IP gas pipeline project is halted, owing to the international sanctions on Iran.
