Islamabad: Malaysian High Commissioner to Pakistan Ikram Mohammad Ibrahim has urged his country\u2019s business community to invest in Pakistani market, a news source reported.<\/p>\n

He was addressing the \u2018Pakistan-Malaysia Business Opportunities Conference (BOC)\u2019 in Kuala Lumpur on Monday. Over 300 participants were present at the event, which featured around 150 Malaysian firms, including those affiliated with the tourism and construction sectors.<\/p>\n

To facilitate business ventures between the two countries, the high commissioner sought the assistance of the Malaysia-Pakistan Business Council. He stated that the authority should work for the promotion of business linkages. For this purpose, he specifically highlighted the importance of the multi-billion economic corridor (CPEC) project, and referred to it as an \u2018opportunity for investment\u2019.<\/p>\n

The Malaysian envoy stated that the CPEC project was an opportunity for local businessmen to explore the Pakistani market, which included major sectors like roads and railways that were ripe for investment. The two countries now focus on developing partnership and cooperation, he added.<\/p>\n

In response, Pakistan\u2019s In-charge of Affairs to Malaysia Atif Sharif Mian said that the CPEC project had the potential to contribute up to USD 50 billion worth of investment into Pakistan. He added that the initiative was aimed at upgrading Pakistan\u2019s infrastructure and boosting the national economy.<\/p>\n
