Muzaffarabad: A meeting of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Development Working Party (DWP) on Tuesday reviewed 16 projects <\/a>slated for development in the current fiscal year, a news source reported. The estimated cost of the schemes is PKR 1.9 billion.<\/p>\n

Additional Chief Secretary (Development) Dr Syed Asif Hussain presided over the session. Officials of the federal government (including P&D representatives), along with secretaries of the AJK government, also attended the meeting.<\/p>\n

Projects that that came under discussion included water supply schemes for major cities, disaster management programmes (for the prevention of landslides), provision of basic amenities in several towns, as well as the establishment of fish farms and hatcheries.<\/p>\n

Hussain informed the participants that the AJK government accorded top priority to the development of infrastructure and welfare initiatives. To facilitate these measures, it proposed equal allocations for multi-sectoral development in its recent budget announcement, he added.<\/p>\n
