Multan: The Local Government has approved PKR 20 million for each union council (UC) of the Multan District to be spent on garbage disposal and sewerage, a news source reported. The UC will use the funds to hire 500 sanitary workers on a daily-wage system to ensure cleanliness<\/a> in their respective areas.<\/p>\n

The decision regarding the approval of funds was finalised during the Local Government Ordinance Meeting held on Thursday. Punjab Minister for Energy Dr. Akhtar Malik and Multan Deputy Commissioner Amir Khattak presided over the meeting. Various notable members from the Punjab Assembly also attended the meeting.<\/p>\n

Addressing the assembled members, Malik said that the provision of clean drinking water is part of the Prime Minister\u2019s vision. Therefore, the allocated funds will be spent on meeting these requirements as well as on the construction of sewerage drains and the desilting of existing drains.<\/p>\n
