Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar on Friday laid the foundation stone for the Baba Guru Nanak University in Nankana Sahib, a complex project in tehsil Shah Kot, and a road rehabilitation project in Nankana Sahib \u2013 a news source reported. He also inaugurated a Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) motel in the district.<\/p>\n

Minister for Interior Brigadier (retired) Ijaz Shah, along with Punjab Assembly (PA) members and officials of the district administration, were all present at the occasion.<\/p>\n

Previously, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) had launched the university project in collaboration with Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB). The then government had calculated its cost at PKR 1 billion.<\/p>\n

The officials concerned said that the educational facility would offer academic courses detailing the life events of Baba Guru Nanak, as well introduce subjects covering the ancient Gandhara civilisation. It would play a key role in the promotion of religious tourism and further improve Pakistan\u2019s global reputation.<\/p>\n
