Gujrat: The Punjab government has allocated funds worth PKR 1 billion for reconstructing the 14-kilometre-long Gujrat-Jalalpur Jattan Road, a news source quoted Member National Assembly (MNA) Chaudhary Hussain Elahi as saying. He said that the executive has also approved the establishment of a Rescue 1122 office Jalalpur Jattan.<\/p>\n

According to Gujrat Deputy Commissioner Dr Khurram Shahzad, the provincial government allocated funds for this project under its budget for the (fiscal year) FY2019-20. This initiative will be completed on a public-private partnership model, for which the officials concerned would flood tenders soon, he added.<\/p>\n

He said that the government might allow the successful bidder to collect toll tax from the motorists on this road for a specific timeframe. The said road will transformed into a dual-carriageway featuring 24ft wide tracks.<\/p>\n

The concerned authorities have yet to decide on the executing authority. As per reports, either the provincial highway department or the National Highway Authority (NHA) would take up the project.<\/p>\n
