{"id":53764,"date":"2019-07-20T09:52:46","date_gmt":"2019-07-20T04:52:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/blog\/?p=53764"},"modified":"2019-07-19T15:55:02","modified_gmt":"2019-07-19T10:55:02","slug":"kp-cm-directs-to-set-up-agriculture-university-in-swat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/kp-cm-directs-to-set-up-agriculture-university-in-swat.html","title":{"rendered":"KP CM directs to set up agriculture university in Swat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Peshawar: Chief Minister (CM) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Mahmood Khan directed the government officials concerned on Wednesday to evaluate the modalities of setting up an agriculture university in Swat, according to a news source.<\/p>\n<p>Khan issued these instructions at a meeting held in Peshawar on Wednesday \u2013 attended by Minister Agriculture Mohibullah Khan, Minister Environment Ishtiaq Umar, and Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Shahab Ali Shah, among others.<\/p>\n<p>The CM stated that the primary aim of this project was to make quality agricultural education accessible to the local farming community through the installation of academic and research facilities in the area.<\/p>\n<p>The officials present at the occasion also gave him a briefing regarding the academic\/training departments proposed for the university \u2013 including centres for the following disciplines:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Horticulture sciences<\/li>\n<li>Soil and environmental sciences<\/li>\n<li>Plant protection<\/li>\n<li>Food sciences<\/li>\n<li>Agronomy<\/li>\n<li>Livestock and veterinary sciences<\/li>\n<li>Fisheries and aquaculture<\/li>\n<li>Medical plants<\/li>\n<li>Agribusiness<\/li>\n<li>Forestry<\/li>\n<li>Various technical diploma programmes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The CM remarked that the establishment of the said varsity was now a necessity \u2013 given the requirements of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/pm-introduces-emergency-agricultural-plan.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">National Agriculture Emergency Plan<\/a>.
