Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has initiated its operation against illegal housing societies<\/a> in the city, which would continue into the last week of August – a news source reported. RDA Chairman Arif Abbasi announced that the body would implement\u00a0the\u00a0laws without discrimination and uphold a zero tolerance policy against illegal schemes.<\/p>\n

All forms of illegal encroachments on land in the jurisdiction of the RDA, such as offices and gates, will be torn down by the authority, while cases are going to be registered against the owners of illegal housing schemes. Advertisement boards for such societies will also be taken down.<\/p>\n

The operation is to be overseen by the RDA magistrate, and the authority has contacted other concerned department including the State Bank of Pakistan, Overseas Pakistanis Foundation, DG PEMRA, police, and advertising companies. Letters have been sent to the concerned departments to emphasise strict action against such schemes.<\/p>\n
