Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has sought a detailed report on the establishment of a \u2018Naya Pakistan Economic Zone\u2019 by September 1, a news source reported. In addition to developing the said facility in the capital city, the government plans to set up its \u2018Naya Pakistan Islamabad Expressway\u2019 project in the coming period.<\/p>\n

To study the project\u2019s impact on environment, along with other sectors, the executive recently constituted six separate committees; which have been tasked with submitting a detailed report comprising the procedural, legal, and financial particulars with regard to the establishment of the proposed economic zone.<\/p>\n

As per reports, Advisor to the PM on Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) representatives, the Housing & Works secretary, the federal law minister, and other officials concerned are some of the high-profile members included in the six committees.<\/p>\n

Dr Shaikh will head the 11-member high-level individual committee formed to oversee the financial aspects of the economic zone project. This committee would also submit its suggestions on a special incentives package proposed for the overseas Pakistanis<\/a>, who would be requested to invest in similar projects.<\/p>\n

The advisor would also head a six-member individual committee for overseeing the execution of the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP).<\/p>\n

Additionally, a three-member committee headed by the Housing & Works secretary, and including the Naya Pakistan Housing Authority (NPHA) chairman and the CDA chairman, would conduct a review of the procedural aspects of the projects. The PM has directed this committee to complete the work on all relevant aspects, along with obtaining No-Objection Certificate (NOC) within six weeks.<\/p>\n
