Islamabad: Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda has ordered the authorities concerned to re-examine the developmental feasibility of the Kalabagh Dam project in a bid to revive the initiative, a news source reported. He expressed his views on the matter during a press briefing held on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

He said that project had been shelved in the past due to vested interests, but he won\u2019t let it be buried this time as Pakistan was in dire need of new water reservoirs. He regretted that the proposed water project had been a subject of controversy in the past.<\/p>\n

In response to a question about the measures planned to provide relief to flood victims in Karachi, Vawda said that the water ministry had collaborated with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to remove encroachment erected on water channels in Karachi.<\/p>\n

He also mentioned that the federal government was engaged in the provision of all technical and logistic assistance in a bid to address the problems of the flood affectees in Karachi.<\/p>\n
