After the bill is a passed, a warning period on plastic-bag use of two months will follow the approval of the act. The sale and use of plastic bags are likely to be banned in all 36 districts of the province from November 15 onwards. The government plans to replace polythene bags with cloth bags.<br \/>\nPlease note that the notion of banning plastic bags in Punjab was first considered during the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/punjab-considers-banning-plastic-bags.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Environmental Protection Department (EPD) meeting<\/a> held in June this year. Following the meeting, the EPD formed a legislative committee, a technical committee and a committee to study the social and economic effects of plastic bag usage.
