Karachi: The government of Sindh has invited citizens and organisations to create \u2018green spaces\u2019 for recreational, aesthetical and environmental purposes across the province, by utilising the lands granted by the public health and rural development department, according to the news sources.<\/p>\n

Public Health Engineering <\/a>(PHE) Secretary Roshan Ali Shaikh informed the gathered media that the department has land available in all provincial districts, which the public can, and should, use to add greenery to the province. It will improve the environment, help with water conservation, and also offer the community space to engage in outdoor activities.<\/p>\n

Project Director Raja Tariq Chandio said that over 5,000 such sites, which are between 200 yds to 100 acres in size, will be made available to environment enthusiasts and organisations with the same desire to make Sindh green by planting trees and curating gardens. These firms and people wouldn\u2019t be allowed to own the land or use it for commercial activities, as the places belong to the public.<\/p>\n

After signing a memorandum of understanding that will allow the state to take land back at will, the interested parties will be given a watchman and water supply to tend to these places.<\/p>\n
