Peshawar: The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has allocated PKR 9.065 billion for a tree plantation drive<\/a> to be conducted in the tribal districts as part of the 10 billion tree afforestation project (10BTAP), a news source reported. The Forest Department of KP has planned to carry out 47% of its assigned plantation in the tribal districts owing to the availability of vast lands. They have to meet the target of planting one billion saplings in the province by 2023.<\/p>\n

Chief Conservator Forest Department Niaz Ali Khan said that tribal districts have recently been included in the plantation drive. The targets are raising 10,000 hectares of saline and waterlogged land, 215,000 hectares block plantations, 1200 hectares on marginalised lands, 3200 hectares wood lots, and 6760 hectares on dry land.<\/p>\n
