Lahore: The Punjab government has introduced an industrial policy \u2018for the first time in the history of the province\u2019, a news source quoted Punjab Information and Culture Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal<\/a> as saying. He expressed his views on the matter during a press briefing held on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

He said that the incumbent government, during its first year in power, had established four technical universities in the province. He added that the executive had launched several other initiatives; including special economic zones (SEZs), small industry and cottage industry development projects that would bring about an industrial revolution.<\/p>\n

The minister stated that an SEZ being developed on 20,000 acres of land in Muzaffargarh and Layyah would prove to be a game-changer for the province.<\/p>\n

Moreover, he said that the provincial government didn\u2019t procure any additional loans this year, and even succeeded to repay some of the debts.
