Lahore: The construction of Sukkur-Multan motorway<\/a> (M-5) under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has been completed two months before the actual deadline, a news source reported. The road is an important part of the Karachi to Lahore motorway being constructed under CPEC, as it will reduce travel time from six hours to three and a half hours.<\/p>\n

The newly built project cost USD 2.89 billion, and is approximately 392 kilometres long. It includes 426 underpasses, 10 flyovers, 12 service areas, 11 interchanges, and 55 bridges, including a massive one over the River Sutlej. There are service stations at intervals of 65 kilometres, which are to be made operational by the National Highway Authority. This is the first motorway to be constructed where service lanes have been included on both sides of the road.<\/p>\n

Deputy General Manager of China Estate Construction Dung Zhao Ji, the company that constructed the project, has said that his team has worked hard to complete their work on time.
