Karak: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Malik Zafar Azam on Wednesday announced the provincial government\u2019s intention to construct 10 small dams in Karak, a news source reported. As per the lawmaker, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will provide funds for the project.<\/p>\n
He said that PKR 1.20 billion would be spent on the development of the dams; adding that this initiative is geared towards addressing water shortage in the said constituency. He said that the officials concerned have forwarded a feasibility report on the project for approval.<\/p>\n
Previously, Azam and another MPA Mian Nisar Gul Kakakhel held a meeting with Deputy Commissioner Shah Rukh Ali Khan and the sub-divisional officer of the public health engineering department. They apprised the officials concerned about the water woes of the area and asked them to fix the dysfunctional water schemes.<\/p>\n
In reply, the public health engineering official informed them that 15 dysfunctional schemes of water supply had been made operational, but a majority of them were inactive due to excessive power outages.<\/p>\n
