Islamabad: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) tourism ministry is planning to offer grants to locals to develop the tourism sector in the province, according to a news report. The ministry aims to empower locals to set up their own guesthouses and various tourist facilities through these grants.<\/p>\n

This will generate employment for the locals, and will also streamline the tourism industry<\/a> in KP. The ministry made this decision at a meeting held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Tourism, Sports and Culture.<\/p>\n

The provincial government aims to offer financial assistance to local villagers to develop eco-tourism destinations in Chitral and Hunza. The aim of this exercise is the promote sustainable tourism in Pakistan.<\/p>\n

In the first phase, these grants would be provided for eco-tourism villages in three Kalash valleys in Chitral and Hunza.
