Member National Assembly (MNA) Sheikh Rashid Shafiq floated this proposal during a meeting of the authority on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Read<\/strong>:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/approval-to-check-availability-of-underground-water-in-rawalpindi-sought.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Approval to check availability of underground water in Rawalpindi sought<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The MNA stated that the authorities concerned should replace the worn-out water supply lines before commencing with the installation of new tube-wells and filtration plants. Other members of the committee expressed their support for the suggestion.<\/p>\n<p>As per reports, the city\u2019s supply lines currently pass along sewerage lines. This leads to contamination of the fresh water, which becomes a source of numerous water-borne diseases. With the removal of old pipelines, the authorities concerned will be able to reduce this leakage and contamination by 40%.<\/p>\n<p>SAA will conduct its next meeting during the upcoming week. It has also issued notices to the relevant authorities for providing details pertaining to ongoing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/wasa-improve-rawalpindis-water-supply.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">water schemes<\/a> in Rawalpindi.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Ministry of Local Bodies has approved the up-gradation of five new roads, along with a storm drain, in the city.
